Registrar (Family Law Practices and Procedures)

Location: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth or Canberra

The major components of the role include:

  • provide high level assistance to the Chief Justice and Chief Judge, Chief Executive Officer and Principal Registrar and Judges in relation to the development of family law practice and procedural reform, risk assessment approaches and the harmonisation of the Courts’ Rules, procedures and forms;
  • provide high level legal, policy and management support to specific Judges’ and other Committees;
  • manage projects concerning family law practice and procedure and related matters;
  • as required from time to time exercise delegated statutory functions of a Registrar in the Family Law Jurisdiction and perform other legal work in accordance with the relevant law and practice in a manner consistent with the Court’s objectives; and
  • assist the Chief Executive Officer and Principal Registrar in building strategic relationships with other stakeholders in the family law system.

The successful applicant will have strong strategic, analytical, change management and project management skills with a focus on achieving exceptional standards.

Extensive experience in family law practice and experience in dealing with matters involving family violence, is essential. A high level of initiative and a proven ability to work autonomously is crucial, along with strong negotiation skills and a track record of effective stakeholder engagement.
