The Senior Legal Case Manager position provides high level legal and general support to the National Judicial Registrar & District Registrar – VIC Registry and Judicial Registrars. Judicial Registrars exercise judicial and statutory functions delegated by Judges or conferred by the Rules of the Federal Court (FCA) and Federal Circuit Court (FCC). Broadly, the primary areas of registrar work are mediation and case management support for judges, registrar court work including Corporations (FCA) and Bankruptcy (FCC) lists and public examinations, and other registrar work including costs (long form bills of costs estimates, confidential conferences, taxation of costs, remuneration assessments), eCourtroom substituted service applications, pro bono management and tribunal support.

The Senior Legal Case Manager also plays a leadership role in supporting Legal Case Managers and the work that they undertake, on a local and national basis. This will involve providing training to the Legal Case Managers and supporting the development of practice and procedure in all areas of legal support work.

In addition, the Senior Legal Case Manager may also take on responsibility nationally for coordinating and supporting registrars in specific areas of registrar work that are not location specific (such as eCourtroom and Bills of Cost)

To be eligible for this role you must have a legal qualification. The Court may also consider applications from candidates that have concluded their law degree but have not been admitted to practice or are not practicing at present, or are in the concluding stages of completing their law degree.

Demonstrated experience in providing high level legal and general support to a legal practitioner. A legal qualification or being in the concluding stages of completing a legal qualification is required. *

Demonstrated knowledge of the Federal Court’s jurisdiction, practices and procedures, or the ability to acquire such knowledge quickly and the ability to interpret and apply legal principles, rules and regulations. *
